Legend of Legacy had a lot of exploration, hopefully it comes to Steam sometime in the future. AA is on Steam, it's a bit more traditional but very much like SaGa. Now, Kyoji Koizumi the lead designer for SaGa Frontier also went on to make some SaGa-esque games - The Alliance Alive and The Legend of Legacy. This includes Legend of Mana, Final Fantasy 12 and The Last Remnant which all bear some SaGa influence.

RS1 remake and SaGa Frontier 2 are coming to Steam eventually, so I'd just start with what's on here already.Īnything else by Akitoshi Kawazu, the SaGa series creator. I liked it for it's exploration and boardgame aesthetic. Unlimited SaGa can only be recommended to you if you have enjoyed every other SaGa game, it's extremely experimental and has mixed reviews even among diehard fans. The wonderswan version is excellent as well but has no English translation. There are translations for the NDS and Wonderswan games.

Scarlet Grace is the newest SaGa game, has some unique mechanics to the series but retains the mechanics that make SaGa.

RS2 is unique and a favorite of mine, but it's very experimental and has a ton of walls that can kill your playthrough if you're a new player without a guide.

RS3 is the culmination of the experience Kawazu gained during the SNES era. The Romancing SaGa games are a little more open than SaGa Frontier. I've spent a long time searching for similar games, so for people new to the series and veterans alike here's my list of games similar to SaGa Frontier.Īll the other SaGa Games - This should be a given.
